$489 is your absolute final/total here for the Shift Line Twin MkIIIS, and its power supply is included.

The Shift Line Twin MkIIIS is the 3rd version of this tube guitar preamplifier and cab simulator, which boasts a unique sound, universal connectivity, all in a compact black enclosure and design. The dynamic range has been expanded to achieve maximum gain. As a result, it can go from its renowned clean sound, into crunch and overdrive without external boosting. The Twin has an analog bypass circuit for the digital IR cab sim, and can be 100% analog when the cab sim is not engaged.

The Shift Line Twin cabinet simulation (cab sim) is based on the Impulse Response (IR) convolution technology, which provides a realistic and detailed sound, while preserving the character of the power amp, cabinet, and microphone used to record the impulse.

The Twin comes with two impulses recorded from the Fender Twin combo amplifier. The microSD card slot allows users to upload their own cabinet impulses.

CONNECTIONS:

    • IN is the signal source input.
    • THRU is a buffered output for the unprocessed signal split from the IN jack.
    • SEND/RETURN is a series effects loop for external processing. The SEND out can also be used as an additional output.
    • OUT is the main output designed to connect the preamplifier to a power amplifier (RETURN or POWER AMP IN on combo amplifiers, INPUT on power amplifiers).
    • AUX IN is an external audio input (the signal from the AUX IN is only heard through the PHONES output).
    • PHONES is a headphones output.
    • BALANCED OUT is a balanced output.
    • POWER IN is a power supply input. Shift Line's U.S. compatible power supply is included. The power requirements are 12V DC 650mA.
    • MICRO SD is a microSD card slot.

    CONTROLS:

      • GAIN controls input signal amplification. It can go from a crystal-clear sound all the way to a classic California-style overdrive.
      • BASS, MIDDLE, & TREBLE KNOBS constitute a classic 3-band passive EQ with a mild frequency correction effect.
      • MASTER controls the volume of the signal coming from the OUT jack.
      • VOLUME controls the volume of the signal coming from the PHONES and BALANCED OUT jacks. The MASTER and VOLUME knobs work independently.
      • TOP SWITCH controls the signal’s high frequency harmonic content. The “+” position accentuates the highs and the attack. The ”-” position provides a milder sound by cutting the high frequencies. The neutral position does not affect the signal in any way.
      • GND SWITCH allows to override “ground loops” that can negatively affect the signal when using XLR connections. In the lower position of the switch, the preamp’s “ground” is connected to the signal receiver’s “ground”. In the middle position, the “grounds” are disconnected. In the upper position, the “grounds” are connected and an additional filter is used to remove interference. The optimal setting of the GND switch is selected by ear: there should be a minimum amount of 50Hz hum and interference.
      • CAB SWITCH selects one of the two built-in cabinet impulses recorded from a Fender Twin combo amplifier with two JBL D120F speakers:

        • “A” position selects the impulse recorded by a LOMO 19A19 microphone placed 15cm away from the edge of the speaker’s protective cap.
        • Middle Position, cabinet simulation is disengaged.
        • “B” Position selects the impulse recorded by a Sennheiser e609 microphone placed 25cm away from the center of the speaker.

When using a microSD card, impulses are loaded from the corresponding folder on the card. The CAB switch affects the signal from the BALANCED OUT and the PHONES OUT but does not affect the signal from the main OUT.

LOADING IMPULSES: Using a microSD card

      • Before using a microSD card, make sure it is formatted to the FAT32 filesystem.

      • When the memory card is used for the first time, a “Shift_IR” folder is automatically created on it. The folder contains two more folders (“A” and “B”, corresponding to the CAB switch positions) in which the default impulses are stored. To use external impulses, replace the default ones with your own files. The supported impulse format is 24bit 48kHZ WAVE PCM1, uncompressed.

      • To restore the default impulse files, insert a blank microSD card into the device. This will create a “Shift_IR” folder containing the default files. If no card is inserted, the built-in impulses are used.

      Very pleased
Color: Black, Size: 8' Wide x 30" Tall
This works great, and I find it to be very effective at soundproofing. The hinge is good quality, and it rolls up easily. It is slightly on the heavier side, but that is to be expected considering its larger size. The materials used to make it are top quality, and it will last a long time.

Trying to limit the sound from the basement.
I still am in process of evaluating the function of these but from an early assessment they do seem to help take the noise down a peg. I have installed these between the joists in my basement so that as my kids get ramped up playing video games it could possibly help prevent the sound from rattling the house. I did not need to use the sticky side for this as I was able to slide them in place around other things to hold them still. With four panels I have ok coverage of the area and if they continue to prove effective I will get more to fill out the area even more. They appear well made and of good size but I am not an expert in sound absorbing materials. Still so far so good.

Not like egg-crate foam, but these look nice and help with noise
Everyone is putting these on the walls. I opted for the ceiling. Back in the middle of the pandemic, I converted a corner of a back-room/work-room into a home office space for my work-from home activities. It's a basement, and so it's concrete walls, but I did my best to put things on or in front of the concrete to dampen sound. But I didn't spend any time thinking about the open-rafter ceiling, which is really just the main-level floor. That's where these (and a couple other) sound-reducing tiles came in. I tacked some packs of these overhead, and immediately noticed a fair reduction in noise in my "office," as well as noise from upstairs. But they also had the effect of reducing my ceiling height, making it easier to warm the space when it's cold. And they look good doing it, providing a pretty nice ceiling. These tiles are not very thick, not like true acoustic wall materials. So you're not going to get the sound dampening of egg-crate foam. But they do offer some degree of reduction in ambient noises. And they don't cost a lot. Overall, I'm pleased and think I need to order more for some other areas of the room.

      A Little Thin
These were a little thinner than I expected, but they work well to help dampen the sound in hard rooms. The larger size means less time installing them and more time enjoying the benefits of a softer room.
